Best Buy Setup Settings Preferences Rules

The Best Buy feature in Titan Supply & Logistics recommends fuel purchase options based on factors such as existing fuel contract daily allowances, fuel cost, freight rates, distance, and available volume at the terminal.

Note: To use the Best Buy feature, buy side contracts must be configured.

Best Buy Setup

To set up the Best Buy feature, first click the Supply Management tile on the Supplier home page. Then, click the Set Up tile followed by the Best Buy Settings tile.

The Best Buy setup page has three sections; Settings, Preferences, and Rules.

Tip: We strongly recommend completing all three sections in order before selecting Enable Best Buy Engine at the top of the page to activate the feature.

Settings

Mode:

  • BB Stand-alone: Best Buy runs independently from other features in Logistics
  • BB + Forecasting: Logistics uses forecasted orders to feed into the Best Buy feature.
  • BB + Dispatch: This is the most robust version of the Best Buy feature, as it incorporates into the Dispatch Schedule Builder.

Mode for VMI Loads: Locations with vendor-managed inventory can be managed immediately or on an automated schedule with a designated buffer threshold.

Result Set Assignment: Determine whether the Best Buy engine should automatically assign purchase options (recommended) or whether a user should manually select from the presented list.

Schedule of engine re-run: We recommend re-running the Best Buy engine at a designated frequency or time stamp to ensure suggestions are updated as prices change throughout the day.  If “Time Stamp” is selected, multiple times can be added.

Triggers of engine re-run: Best Buy may also be re-run when new pricing is received, new contracts are created, and if a contract becomes unavailable.

Options to evaluate for Best Buy suggestion:

  • Buy Contracts
  • Rack Prices
  • Supplier Prices
  • WACOTGs

Load sequencing in Best Buy algorithm: Determine how to sequence loads in each re-run.

  • Load/Order ID: The individual DR generated
  • Order Quantity: Number of gallons
  • Delivery Window (default & recommended)

Run Best Buy engine until: The Best Buy engine will re-run continuously based on the frequency or timestamp designated above until the Order/Load is published, or until the Driver/Carrier has accepted the load.

Preferences

Best buy suggestion basis-preference:

  • Product Price only
  • Product Price + Freight Rates

Freight Preference: When applicable, set a preference of how freight rate should be applied: by freight tables or by a default rate.

Tip: Freight Rates must be configured to use them here.

Rules

Over-ride assignments or edits post publish: Should post-publish edits be allowed, and if so, may Assignment, Sequence, or Availability edits be permitted?

Lift Point Management: If multiple products are ordered, how should lift points be handled:

  • All from one: Only lift from terminals that have all products available
  • Driver product driven: Choose a primary product to drive the decision
  • Discrete: Individual lift points may be designated
